Dorchester Descendants Project

The Dorchester Descendants Project is a new venture to connect people across the United States to their Dorchester roots. Faith Ferguson, project director, is working to locate and contact descendants of Dorchester families in Massachusetts, across the country, and beyond. She is eager to connect with people who count Dorchester ancestry as part of their family heritage, whenever their forebears lived in Dorchester, from 1630 right up through today.

The project is designed make the treasures, historical properties, and artifacts of the Dorchester Historical Society available to all Dorchester descendants as well as to encourage interest in the genealogy of Dorchester families. With the support of Bettina Blake, Faith has started work on a full-color book about Dorchester's history through its families, illustrated by the DHS collections.

Save the weekend of June 24 and 25, 2011 for a visit to Dorchester-it's the 350th anniversary of The Blake House; as part of the project a weekend of gala events is being planned to celebrate the oldest house in Boston.

The project has a website at www.dorchesterdescendants.org where visitors can keep current on project information and progress.
